Checking out the property was a laborious process in Pakistan years ago, as there wasn’t any concept of digital marketing in real estate where people could check property details online. At those times people who wanted to sell, buy or rent properties had to contact the local dealer locally known as “Patwaris”. The traditional-based system was way too slow and unreliable resulting in many frauds and corruption related to land matters. 
After facing such issues of land fraud and corruption, the Government of Pakistan had decided to transform the traditional form of dealing property business to the Digital marketing system. However, the advanced system is not accessible in all provinces of Pakistan. It has only been launched in the province of Sindh and Punjab to check out the property ownership online. This article is a guideline to how a person can check property ownership effortlessly in Pakistan online. 

Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA)
The Government of Punjab started the automation of Land Records. It aims at improving service delivery and enhancing the perceived level of tenure security. It has been set up under the administrative control of the Board of Revenue, Government of Punjab. PLRA has launched a digital system to maintain records of land and property in Punjab where people can easily check the records of their properties through the online Land Records Management Information System (LRMIS). The Punjab Land Record Authority handles all the matters related to land and property records in the Punjab province and secures the Intellectual Property Rights in the best way. 

How to check property ownership? 
All the records of property and land are available on the official website. The steps to check the property and land ownership in Punjab are the following: 
Visit PLRA Official website:

• On the homepage of the website, you can search the ownership details. 
• First, select the district from the drop-down menu. You have to select the district where property or land is located. 
• Now select the Tehsil from the drop-down menu. 
• After that select Area where your property is located from the drop-down menu. 
• In the next step, you will be given three options to search. You can search it by CNIC, by Name, or Khewat number (Property number). 
• If you want to search it by CNIC then you need to write the 14 digits of your CNIC. 
• After that press enter 

Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) has also launched a mobile app for it. However, it is available for only Android users. It will help its users to find out land and registry information. With the new App, landowners can view the specific land records, register data, tax calculator, and fee schedule. The application allows its users to browse the information of the specific property details and saves the information for offline and future preferences.
